The Department of Theater/Dance presents the annual Summer Dances concert featuring choreography from dance faculty. Among the dance pieces featured in the concert is a restaging of Deep Currents for 19 dancers with choreography by Nancy Colahan. Justine Sutton from Santa Barbara Noozhawk describes the piece; "Stylistically gorgeous, this large group piece is a study in contrasts, and uses them well," and “The over-all effect is both ancient and futuristic, natural and man-made, and ultimately, gorgeous.” Elizabeht Schwyzer from the Santa Barbara Independent says, “Like so much of Colahan’s work, Deep Currents is carried along on a lilting idiom of over-curves, sweeping circles and soft arrival points."
