Undergraduate Studies
The Department of Theater and Dance offers a wide range of classes for students preparing for a professional or educational career or pursuing a liberal arts education. Undergraduate students may receive a Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA), a Bachelor of Arts (BA), or a minor.
Theater BA
Students in the Bachelor of Arts degree program focus on one or more of these concentrations: Design, Directing, Playwriting, Theater and Community, and/or Theater and Performance Studies.
Dance BA
The Bachelor of Arts degree allows dance students to study a broad range of dance subjects such as dance history, dance criticism and somatic studies. This degree path prepares students for a careers that go beyond dance performance and choreography into areas such as dance therapy, theory, history, education, and administrative leadership.
BFA in Acting
The Bachelor of Fine arts degree is specifically designed as a conservatory-style program to train the serious student for a professional career in acting.
BFA in Dance
The Bachelor of Fine Arts degree is specifically designed as a conservatory-style program to train the serious student for a professional career in dance performance and/or choreography.
Theater Minor
The Department of Theater and Dance offers two minors, one in Theater and one in Production and Design.
Graduate Studies
The Department of Theater and Dance offers Ph.D. and M.A. degrees in Theater Studies. The rigorous curriculum focuses on interdisciplinary approaches to performance, drama, and dance research through the lens of a global understanding of history, literature, critical theory, and dramatic practices. The Ph.D., M.A./Ph.D., and M.A. programs provide a thorough training for a career in academic work and have shown an excellent record of degree completion, employment, and publication.
